In the summer of 2017, as part of the run-up to the Fragments of Note exhibition at Magdalen College, curator Dr Giovanni Varelli scripted a short film which would feature musical fragments from the College’s collection and bring them to life by enlisting the College’s academic community and award-winning choir. This film, Singing the Collections: The Medieval Music Fragments of Magdalen College, debuted at the opening of the exhibition in November 2017, and ran as part of the physical exhibition in the Old Library.
Singing the Collections was made possible by support from the College’s Development and Alumni Relations Committee, the Magdalen College Annual Fund Grant, and through the individual support of Ms Barbara Domayne-Hayman. The curators wish to also thank the support of Mr Mark Williams (Informator Choristarum), the Revd Dr Jonathan Arnold (Dean of Divinity, 2016-19), Prof Christian Leitmeir, and the Magdalen College Choir for their participation in this project.
